1967 Gold Coins
While recently going over a variety of beautiful 1967 gold coins from around the world, we decided to highlight the 20 dollar gold coin from Canada. This particular coin is a great example of one of the coins from the commemorative sets which celebrate the 1967 Canadian Centennial. This coin is also part of the proof set which additionally includes four silver coins ($1 silver, silver half dollar, silver quarter and silver dime). Specs for the twenty dollar coin are: 18.2733 g, 0.9000 gold, 0.5287 oz gold. From a historical stance, it is common for commemoration to take place on the centennial anniversary of a specific event. In this instance the celebration was in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Canadian Confederation.
